Elderly & Disabled Transportation Programs

 

    On January 4, 2000 the DVTA began serving seniors (aged 60 and over) and ADA-defined disabled residents of the Deerfield Valley with free door to door transportation to adult day care, meal sites, medical appointments, and shopping. It's free, simple and fun!!! There are three options:
  1. Council On Aging service to congregate meal sites in Jacksonville, Readsboro and Halifax, and shopping trips to Bennington.
  2. Gathering Place daily service from the Deerfield Valley to The Gathering Place in Brattleboro for full-day adult day care.
  3. Rides to medical appointments provided by a qualified and pre-screened volunteer driver in their own car.

     The DVTA serves residents from Halifax, Readsboro, Wilmington, Dover, Whitingham and Wardsboro. Simply call Jan Terk at 464-8487 Monday-Friday 8 am - 5 pm for further information. Some trips are to scheduled destinations on set days of the week, while some trips can be tailored for individual needs. Some restrictions will apply based on demand. 

    Rides for dialysis and chemotherapy patients are usually done by volunteer drivers who are reimbursed for their mileage. To sign up as a volunteer or to request a ride call Jan Terk at 464-8487.
