MOOVER PROPOSES A CHANGE TO THE WILMINGTON-BENNINGTON ROUTE

Release Date: May 2, 2024

WILMINGTON:  Southeast Vermont Transit (aka The MOOver) is proposing a change in the Wilmington-Bennington bus route that would become effective Monday, June 3, 2024.

The MOOver operates two morning (6:55 am and 8:20 am) round trips Monday-Friday from Wilmington to Bennington. In the afternoon, Green Mountain Community Network (GMCN) operates one afternoon (3:20 pm) round trip to Wilmington starting in Bennington. All three trips meet the Wilmington-Brattleboro bus to provide cross-state connections. The 6:55 am and 3:20 pm trips serve Grace Christian School.

Ridership on the 8:20 am trip averages one rider or less per day on each leg of the round trip.

“As difficult as it is to cut service, we have to be fiscally responsible and recognize that we cannot invest so much for an average of one rider per trip,” said Randy Schoonmaker, SEVT CEO. “The other trips on this route enjoy much better ridership and route performance, and those will not change.”

Public input is welcomed and can be given in three ways. Riders call 1-802-463-2474 Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm; e-mail randys@moover.com ; or go online at www.moover.com/customer-feedback/ . A flyer is available onboard the MOOver Wilmington-Bennington bus with this same information.

A request from the public for a public meeting must be made via the e-mail or phone number above on or before May 17, 2024.
