I am looking for free public transportation in southern Vermont.

The MOOver is southern Vermont’s full-service public transit provider for fixed route, paratransit, microtransit, demand response, and Medicaid transportation.

How do I get around Brattleboro without a car?

Our Red, White, and Blue Lines serve Brattleboro Monday-Saturday (on Saturday the Blue Line is covered by the White Line). Select Routes from the toolbar on the home page.

Is the MOOver really fare free every day?

Yes. We are funded by federal and state grants and our own fundraising efforts from towns, partners, foundations, resorts, sponsors, and individual donors.

Is there a bus from Wilmington to Bennington?

No, that service ended in June 2025 due to a lack of ridership and efficiency.

Does the MOOver do shuttle service at Stratton Mountain?

The MOOver provides round trip service from Stratton to Manchester early November to early April. Click here for the schedule.

Is there free transit service from Wilmington to Brattleboro?

Is the MOOver really free? Who funds it? Who owns it?

All MOOver routes are free. We are funded 74% by state and federal grants, and 26% by funding we generate from resorts, businesses, towns, sponsors, and individuals. No one owns the MOOver – we are a 501 c3 governed by a Board of Directors.

What is demand response transportation?

It is rides for individuals from their homes to medical appointments, adult day care, congregate meals and shopping, and personal care trips. Reservations are required and there are several eligibility requirements. Click here for more information.

Is there public transit to Okemo Mountain Resort?

The MOOver provides rides on Route 61 from the Ludlow area to Okemo on weekends and holidays from Christmas to late March. Here’s the schedule:

How long has the MOOver been operating?

We began service on November 28, 1996 operating as Deerfield Valley Transportation Association aka The MOOver. On July 1, 2015 we merged with Connecticut River Transit to form Southeast Vermont Transit, still aka The MOOver.

How do I get to Mount Snow without driving?

Take Greyhound buses to Brattleboro, Vermont and connect on MOOver Route#10 in Brattleboro to get to Wilmington, Vermont. Then take the #7 bus northbound to Mount Snow. Service from Brattleboro to Wilmington is Monday-Friday only. Once you’re in the Mount Snow Region, look at our winter route schedule for various shuttles that go from base area condo villages to the resort. All routes are fare free.
